Beavers 6 - 8yrs

What are Beaver Scouts?

Beavers are second section, and generally meet for just over an hour per week. They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout sleepover with their friends.

The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.  There is flexibility in the age range: young people can join from age 5¾, and can move to Cubs between age 7½ and 8½.  It may sometimes be appropriate to extend this flexibility for young people with additional needs.

Like all our sections, Beavers is open to Girls and Boys

When do they meet?

Silver End Beaver meet on a Monday. The location is the Scout HQ in Silver End.  For safeguarding purposes we do not publish the address or a map online, but we will provide details to all members or future members on where to find us. The current meeting day and times are:-

Monday 6pm - 7.30pm

What Activities do Beaver Scouts do?

During their time in the Colony, Beaver Scouts will get a chance to try a wide range of different activities as well as going on trips, days out, and on sleepovers. Participation, rather than meeting set standards, is the key approach, and there are a range of badges and challenge awards that Beaver Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements.

There are numerous badges and awards they can work towards and earn during their time in Beavers, and hopefully move up to Cub Scouts having achieved their Bronze Chief Scouts Award.

Adult Vacancies

Do you want to join in the fun and adventure and pass on your skills or learn new ones yourself?  All our Leaders are unpaid volunteers and we would love you to join us.  No previous experience of Scouting or working with young people is necessary. Its magical watching the young people pick up new skills, having fun and making new friends.  The smiles you get in return are award enough.  If you have an hour to spare once or month or can commit to more we can find a role for you.  We are currently looking for:-

Useful information

One of the questions we always get asked is where do you buy the uniform from?  There is a District Scout Shop based at Prances Campsite that is open Saturdays from 10am to 1pm during term time.

We have mentioned there are numerous badges but what do Beavers have to do to earn them? Take a look here for all the requirements.

Next question is where do all these badge go?
