Explorers 14 - 18yrs

What are Explorer Scouts?

Explorers are a go-getting group of young people. Week in and week out, they gather in a group called a Unit to try new things, make new friends and conquer the small task of changing the world.

The Explorer Unit is the firth section of the Scout Group following on from Scouts. Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18. There is flexibility in the age range:  young people can join from age 14 and can move to Scout Network between age 17½ and 18.  It may sometimes be appropriate to extend this flexibility for young people with additional needs.

Like all our sections, Explorers is open to Girls and Boys

When do they meet?

Silver End Explorers meet on a Thursday. The location is the Scout HQ in Silver End.  For safeguarding purposes we do not publish the address or a map online, but we will provide details to all members or future members on where to find us. The current meeting day and times are:-

Thursday 7.30pm - 9pm

What Activities do Explorer Scouts do?

Being an Explorer is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.

Alongside your new friends, you’ll master the skills that will make you feel stronger and happier in the long run, and try things you’d never get the chance to do at home or at school.

Whether you’re hiking to faraway lands or building a robot in your local town hall, you’ll have the freedom to choose what you’d like to do, and work together with adults to make it happen.

Useful information

One of the questions we always get asked is where do you buy the uniform from?  There is a District Scout Shop based at Prances Campsite that is open Saturdays from 10am to 1pm during term time.

We have mentioned there are numerous badges, but what do Cubs have to do to earn them? Take a look here for all the requirements.

Next question is where do all these badge go?
